Strong Mazda Sales in May

Mazda dealers across NSW sold 1924 vehicles during the month of May, with 6052 sold nationwide – the third best May result ever recorded by Mazda in Australia.

Mazda3 recorded its best ever May result largely due to demand for the new model.

Mazda remained the fourth most popular car brand in Australia with an estimated market share of 8%. The New Generation Mazda3 topped the list of sales for the month and was the country’s best selling car in the small car segment and the second best selling car overall.

Sales consultants at leading Sydney Mazda dealer, Eurocars Mazda, said sales were steadily continuing across the range with very strong demand for the new Mazda3.

Business owners rush to buy Mazdas with 50% tax break

Eurocars Mazda has experienced a significant surge in enquiry and sales on many Mazda models following the Federal Government’s announcement of a 50% tax break on new vehicle purchases for small business owners.
Small and large business owners from all over Sydney have visited Eurocars Artarmon to enquire about purchasing new Mazda models including the newMazda3, the ever popularMazda2, the Mazda CX7, Mazda CX9 and the mid-sizeMazda6.
The Government is offering a 50% tax break on new Mazda vehicles purchased by small businesses with an annual turnover of $2 million or less before December 31.

Large businesses with a turnover of more than $2 million are eligible for a 30% tax rebate if they purchase their new Mazda before June 30 and 10% if they purchase after June 30 but before December 31.

“The first thing I noticed was the new look and style of the Mazda3 – it’s more refined, the dashboard is totally different and it’s a quieter ride,” Craig said.

“The new Mazda3 has better fuel economy and is available in five speed as opposed to four in the previous Mazda3 model. It has standard dynamic stability control and great traction on the road. Extra features include blue tooth and satellite navigation.”

Mazda 3 - The Mazda Fashion Icon

The New Generation Mazda3 went on show at Sydney’s Fashion Weekend at Fox Studio’s Royal Hall of Industries at Moore Park earlier this month.

The sleek and stylish new Mazda3 was well received by the style-conscious audience and was the official car sponsor for the iconic fashion industry event.

The New Generation Mazda3 has been described by industry insiders as refined, stylish and quiet. It is also available in a range of new funky Mazda 3 colours.

Check out the New Generation Mazda3 at Eurocars Artarmon at 339 Pacific Highway.

Mazda 3 cleans up with dealerships

In its first month on sale in Australia, the sleek New Generation Mazda3 boosted Mazda sales dramatically, making it the country’s most popular small car for the second time this year.

VFACTS figures show 2,503 previous Mazda3s and New Generation Mazda3s were sold in April, which also made it the second best-selling passenger vehicle of all sizes in Australia.

The Mazda3 sales results follow record market share figures for the first quarter of 2009, with Mazda accounting for 8.9% of all sales in Australia. Around 19,000 Mazdas were sold in the first quarter, reinforcing Mazda’s position as Australia’s best selling full-line importer.

Sydney Mazda Eurocars Principal Dealer, Tim Garner, said demand for the New Generation Mazda3 at Eurocars was already very strong with enquiry from new car buyers starting well before the new Mazda model arrived at their Artarmon Mazda showroom.

Australia’s best small car, the Mazda 2, faces new competition

The respected motor vehicle industry journal, NRMA Open Road magazine, has put to the test Mazda’s 18-month-old Mazda 2 model against Ford’s new Fiesta in its current March/April edition.

In last year’s Australia’s Best Cars Awards, the Mazda 2 was the clear Small Car category winner, but with the new Fiesta attracting attention in the small car sector, Open Road was keen to compare their performance, driveability and aesthetics.

Among the experts were Tim Pomroy and Scott Nargar, both members of the Best Car judging panel, who concluded that, overall, the Mazda 2 “is a more refined package and has a more comfortable ride and smoother driveline”.

A history of eurocarsmazda

The award-winning Mazda Eurocars Artarmon dealership has been family-owned and run by the Garner family for just under 30 years, ensuring a continuity of service and quality that none of its competitors can match.

The father of current Eurocars Mazda Dealer Principal, Tim Garner, bought the Eurocars business in 1980 when it was a European car dealership importing and selling models such as Alfa Romeos and Fiats in Crows Nest.

In 1985, it was converted to a specialist Mazda dealership and its name was changed to Eurocars Mazda. As the business expanded, it moved to larger premises at 339 Pacific Highway, Artarmon, where its state-of-the-art Mazda showroom and Eurocars Mazda Service Centre remains today.

When his father retired, Tim Garner took over as Eurocars Dealer Principal and has guided the business to a national Mazda dealership ranking of third for new and used car sales.

EurocarsMazda has twice won the prestigious Mazda Master Dealer Award (2008, 2009), which is issued annually by the Mazda Guild to only 15 dealerships across the country.

50 years of Mazda in Australia!

Sydney Mazda dealer, Eurocarsmazda, is celebrating Mazda’s 50th year in Australia in 2009, with the Japanese-made brand now commanding an incredible 10% share of Australia’s passenger car market.

Eurocars Dealer Principal, Tim Garner, said Mazda had built up an outstanding track record for high quality vehicles and was a revered brand in the Australian car industry.

Many Mazda models have risen to the top ranks of Australia’s favourite cars, including the sporty Mazda MX-5 and the ever-popular Mazda 2 and Mazda 3. The Mazda CX-9 continues to be popular with large families while the Mazda 6 remains the epitome of power and performance at the upper end of the mid-size car range.

Mazda’s 50th year celebrations got off to a flying start in January, with the Mazda 3 crowned Australia’s top selling car in January. Meanwhile, excitement is growing over the release of the New Generation Mazda 3, scheduled to arrive in Australia in April.

Eurocarsmazda celebrates the 2 millionth mazda 3 being sold!!!!

Australia’s favourite “zoom-zoom” Mazda model has reached a milestone in its history.

Global production of the ever-popular Mazda 3 reached two million units in October 2008 after five years and four months on the market, according to Mazda global headquarters in Japan.

Mazda began production of the Mazda 3 in western Japan in June 2003. Since then, the popular compact vehicle has been sold in more than 100 countries, including Australia, and has won 94 global automotive awards.

Australian drivers have certainly fallen in love with Mazda’s high quality fleet of vehicles, ranging from the smallest and most affordable model, the Mazda 2, to the largest and most luxurious family vehicle, the Mazda CX9.

Figures just released by Mazda’s global headquarters in Japan show that 77,000 Mazdas were sold in Australia in 2007 – an all-time Australian record.

Mazda Eurocars Dealer Principal, Tim Garner, said sales records were constantly tumbling with 700 Mazdas recently sold in just one week across NSW – another first in Mazda’s Australian history.

“Australians are increasingly recognising the superior performance, style, comfort and value for money in all Mazda models,” Mr Garner said.

The new Mazda 3 model will be available for test drives and purchasing at leading Sydney Mazda dealership, Eurocars Artarmon, in April this year. To find out more or book a test drive, contact Eurocarsmazda

Mazda goes green

Mazda is continuing to make huge advancements in environmental technologies as it seeks to reduce both its carbon footprint in manufacturing and the environmental impact of its fleet of high quality Mazda vehicles sold in more than 100 countries and dealerships such as EurocarsMazda.

Most recently, Mazda has developed a way of effectively purifying car exhaust gases. It has cut its precious metal usage by 70% in its newly-developed single-nanocatalyst technology in car catalytic converters. The nanocatalyst is featured in the new Mazda 3 model, which will be released in Australia in April.

The single-nanocatalyst technology means the underfloor catalytic converter in the all-new Mazda 3 requires only 0.15g/L of precious metals, approximately 70% less than the 0.55g/L required in the previous Mazda 3 model.

This new technology will be progressively rolled out across all EurocarsMazda models in the future.

Mazda to cut vehicle fuel consumption by 30%

Mazda continues to lead the industry in eco-friendly motoring with a bold plan to reduce the fuel consumption of its new vehicles by an average 30% worldwide by 2015.

Under its Sustainable Zoom-Zoom environmental plan, Mazda intends to upgrade almost all of its gasoline engines and introduce a more efficient diesel engine within the next few years. It is also developing safe lightweight vehicle platforms to reduce car weight by 100kg or more, thereby reducing the amount of fuel required to drive them.

Next year, it will begin mass production of its proprietary Smart Idle Stop System in one of its cars. The System is the only one of its kind in the world and improves fuel consumption by up to 8%. Also in 2009, it will introduce an advanced version of its unique Three Layer Wet Paint System, thereby vastly reducing VOC and CO2 emissions and making Mazda’s paint shops the cleanest in the world.

Further, Mazda aims to be using carbon neutral plant-based bio-plastics in the manufacture of all its vehicles by 2013. Currently, the car industry uses petroleum-based plastics for car parts such as the interior trim. In collaboration with industry, academia and government, Mazda has developed the world’s first bio-plastic that can be used in cars, thereby reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as bodyweight.

For more information on the eco-friendly features of Mazda vehicles, call Sydney Mazda’s Artarmon Mazda dealership, Eurocars Mazda on +61 2 8905 5555 or contact through its web enquiry form.

3 Steps to look after your Mazda

Your Mazda is an important investment. If you want to keep that zoom-zoom feeling going for as long as possible, the first thing to do is to simply follow the basics. Far too many people don’t even follow these simple steps:

1. Read your owner’s manual. Follow the recommendations. (it’s surprising how many car owners don’t do this)
2. Get your oil changed and a service regularly - not when you feel like it, but when your service provider recommends it - this will extend the life of your Mazda and be less costly in the long run.
3. If something doesn’t feel right, bring it in. Try to describe the problem as best as you can - trying to self-diagnose and telling us that the car needs a new part might mean that we miss the real problem.

Of course, we also recommend only going to those who know Mazdas best, and who those you know will look after your car with all the care it deserves. To book a service call EurocarsMazda on (02) 8905 5600

Mazda Artarmon tailors car servicing to customers

What do you do if your Mazda vehicle is due for a service every 10,000km, but you only drive around the block once a week? Eurocars Mazda Artarmon has the answer with its tailored car servicing, according to Eurocars Service Manager, Padraig Campbell.

“Generally, we recommend a full service every six months or 10,000km, whichever comes first,” Padraig says.

“However, we have a lot of senior Sydney Mazda drivers who don’t drive very often, and might only clock up about 3,000km per year, in which case the expense of a full service every six months is not justified.

“So we offer a tailored service whereby low km Mazda drivers come in about every eight months for a more basic service, including an oil change, which costs less than a full service but ensures top maintenance for their Mazdas.

“At Eurocars Mazda service centre, we believe that overservicing is pointless and we are more than happy to tailor an ongoing service plan for customers whose driving is limited.”

To organise your next service, call EurocarsMazda service centre on 8905 5600.

Mazda buyers seek affordability in 2009

Eurocarsmazda Artarmon is expecting to see a continuation of the trend in more new car buyers seeking affordability and fuel economy in the first quarter of 2009, as economic worries impact people’s decisions on which car model they buy in the new year.

In the final quarter of 2008, the Mazda 3 and Mazda 2 were by far the most popular models sold at Sydney Mazda’s leading Artarmon Mazda dealership, Eurocars.

Artarmon Mazda Dealer Principal, Tim Garner, expects this trend to continue well into 2009.

Another significant trend among budget-conscious buyers is choosing to buy used cars instead of new cars. Eurocarsmazda Used Car Manager, David Conway, said more buyers were interested in Eurocars’ high quality used car range due to economic factors.

Eurocarsmazda offers a fantastic range of selected used cars with fully documented service histories that have been completely detailed and safety checked by Eurocarsmazda Artarmon prior to being offered for sale. The bulk of them are late model Mazdas with low mileage and come with an additional three year warranty, Mr Conway said.

However, other car models are also available at Eurocarsmazda Artarmon, such as Holden, Honda, Lexus, Peugeot, Renault and Volkswagen. Check out Eurocars’ range of used vehicles here.

Eurocarsmazda company profile - tim garner

Company profiles: Tim Garner

Dealer Principal

Tim has been working for EurocarsMazda since 1992, and Dealer Principal at EurocarsMazda dealer in Sydney, since 2000. In this time, average sales have nearly tripled from 50 to up to 150 cars per month, and staff has increased 30%. But he remains modest about his success, insisting it is the value of the product that has generated such an increase:

“Mazdas are simply a very good product. They are stylish and good looking. There are no problems with Mazdas - they sell themselves.”

Tim’s father John Garner owns the EurocarsMazda business. This is not held against him by the rest of the team; in fact, everyone else interviewed claimed that Eurocars being a family owned business was one of their major incentives for working there.

Tim likes to foster a team environment in Eurocarsmazda - all company emails are addressed to ‘the team’ and if they do well, they all go out to dinner.
2008 so far has been a particularly good year for Eurocarsmazda, with two record months this year alone. January saw 140 sales, a record which was beaten in March with 150 sales.

“We think we do a pretty good job here” says Tim, a statement that is substantially echoed by Mazda Australia, who recently awarded Eurocarsmazda the prestigious Master Dealer Award - one of only three dealers in NSW to get the award. Yes, a pretty good job indeed.

Eurocars Mazda run-out a hit with buyers

Buyers have been flocking to leading Sydney Mazda dealer, EurocarsMazda Artarmon, to take advantage of their great run-out deals on the ever-popular Mazda 3.

The current Mazda 3 model is coming to the end of its cycle, with a brand new Mazda 3 – the first in five years - to be released in Australia in April. The new Mazda 3 has just hit the streets in Japan, where Mazda has its global headquarters.

Eurocarsmazda Artarmon will continue its run-out deal on the current Mazda 3 until March.

The new year has started off exceptionally well at EurocarsMazda Artarmon, with 42 new cars sold in the second week of January alone. This included 20 Mazda 3s and 18 Mazda 2s.

The new Mazda 2, released in Australia in late 2007, remains a highly popular model in the Mazda range and was the 2008 Best Small Car of the Year in the annual Australia’s Best Cars(ABC)awards.

According to industry journal, NRMA Open Road, Mazda has “injected a sense of sporting fun and driving ease into the Mazda 2”. It was also praised for its comfort, safety and stylish design.

EurocarsMazda | 6 Tips to Minimise Fuel Consumption

EurocarsMazda brings you 6 Tips to Minimise Fuel Consumption:

Follow a few simple fuel choice and consumption guidelines and you will maximise economy, help the environment and save yourself some money.

* Keep your EurocarsMazda regularly serviced. It will run more efficiently, reducing fuel costs
* Avoid aggressive acceleration to reduce fuel consumption
* Regularly check your tyre pressures
* Don’t carry heavy loads you don’t need to - a lighter vehicle is more fuel efficient
* Remove roof racks when not in use. They add aerodynamic drag, increasing fuel use
* Avoid excessive idling. If waiting to pick kids up or stopping to read a map, switch the engine off

Biofuels
Biofuel is a renewable fuel source that reduces pollution. Common biofuels are ethanol and biodiesel. More information on these will be posted soon.

For more inrformation visit the EurocarsMazda website.

Safety, Not Snooze at The Wheel

A tired driver is a dangerous driver. Sleepiness slows reaction time, decreases awareness, impairs judgment and increases aggressiveness. Just like driving drunk or drugged, drowsy driving causes you to make mistakes behind the wheel that can injure or kill the driver, passengers or total strangers.

Signs of drowsy driving
A recent US study showed that 20 percent of crashes and 12 percent of near-crashes were caused by drowsy drivers. How did the researchers determine a driver was drowsy? Each of 100 vehicles was outfitted with five cameras that linked to computers to record driver action and reaction. Monitoring the drivers for more than one year and nearly 2 million miles of driving, researchers determined that the drivers were drowsy if their eyes closed for longer than a blink, or if their heads bobbed forward and then bolted back upright. Also [EurocarsMazda] making the cut were drivers who didn’t move at all, staring fixedly ahead instead of reacting to oncoming traffic or checking the rearview or sideview mirrors. (Source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)

How to avoid falling asleep behind the wheel
Here are the top 10 things to do to avoid falling asleep at the wheel
1. Stop driving if you feel sleepy. Stop and drink a caffeinated beverage.

2. Since it takes about 30 minutes for caffeine to enter the bloodstream and take effect, use that time to take a nap.

3. Get plenty of sleep the night before taking a long trip, at least six hours, though more is better.

4. Don’t plan to work all day and then drive all night.

5. Drive at times when you are normally awake, and stay overnight in a hotel or motel rather than driving straight through.

6. Avoid driving at so-called sleepy times of day. Take a midafternoon break for a short nap and find a place to sleep between midnight and dawn. If you can’t nap, at least stop your drive and rest for awhile.

7. Avoid carbohydrate-laden foods that can make you sleepy, in favor of protein-laden foods.

8. Avoid allergy and cold or flu medications containing Diphenhydramine, such as Benadryl, which can contribute to drowsiness. And don’t take prescribed sleep aids, such as Ambien, until you are finished driving for the day.

9. On long trips, keep an awake passenger in the front seat. Increasing the volume on the car stereo is not a substitute for somebody you can talk to.

10. Take a break every two hours or every 100-200 Kilometers, even if you don’t need a pit stop or fuel. Get out of the car, take some deep breaths and do some stretching exercises, especially neck and shoulders, to relieve cramping and stress. And try to set a limit of 300-400 miles of driving per day.

Best Ways to Use Biofuels in Your EurocarsMazda

Ethanol is a colourless liquid (alcohol) generally produced from grain or sugar. Blending of ethanol in petrol has been suggested as a way of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels.

The Australian Federal Government currently legislates that ethanol can be added to petrol in blends up to a maximum of 10%. This is called E10. Legislation states that E10 pumps must be labelled, giving you the choice of whether or not to purchase ethanol blended fuels.

View list of Ethanol compatible (E10) Mazda models: from EurocarsMazda

What happens when ethanol is used in non-suitable vehicles?

* There is an increased possibility of metal fuel tanks and lines corroding or rusting
* The chance of plastic fuel tanks swelling and breaking down is increased
* The possibility of plastic and rubber fuel lines deteriorating is increased
* There is a possibility of fuel injector O-rings breaking down
* Carburettor floats and seals are susceptible to deterioration
* Certain engine components may not be compatible with ethanol
* Engine management mapping parameters may not be fully compatible with E10, creating idle, driveability and starting concerns, plus hot weather performance issues

Important points

- Ethanol is an oxygenated fuel. E10 (which is oxygenated gasoline) may reduce fuel economy by an average of 2-3% because oxygenates contain less energy than non-oxygenated petrol. This means you may get fewer kilometres per tank when using E10

- Ethanol has a high affinity to water. Ingress of water could result in ethanol fuel blends breaking down into separate water/ethanol and petrol layers. This could create driveability concerns, as there’s a possibility of water/ethanol slugs reaching the engine

- In some older vehicles, deposits in fuel systems can be loosened by E10, which may cause fuel filters to become blocked

- Coarse ethanol, which is of poor quality, may cause poor idling plus driveability and starting issues, even if the vehicle is suitable to operate on E10

Used Mazda Vehicles at EurocarsMazda

Demand for used Sydney Mazda vehicles has increased over the past few months as consumers tighten their belts in the wake of the global financial crisis.

Sydney Mazda drivers can find a range of carefully selected used Mazda vehicles with fully documented service histories at EurocarsMazda Artarmon.

“Most of our used vehicles are late model Mazdas with low mileage and come with an additional three year warranty,” David said.

All used cars are fully detailed and safety checked by EurocarsMazda' professional and experienced Mazda service team.

David said Mazdas that have been well-maintained and serviced retain their re-sale value very well as they are a high quality vehicle built to exceptionally high standards.
