In its first month on sale in Australia, the sleek New Generation Mazda3 boosted Mazda sales dramatically, making it the country’s most popular small car for the second time this year.
VFACTS figures show 2,503 previous Mazda3s and New Generation Mazda3s were sold in April, which also made it the second best-selling passenger vehicle of all sizes in Australia.
The Mazda3 sales results follow record market share figures for the first quarter of 2009, with Mazda accounting for 8.9% of all sales in Australia. Around 19,000 Mazdas were sold in the first quarter, reinforcing Mazda’s position as Australia’s best selling full-line importer.
Sydney Mazda Eurocars Principal Dealer, Tim Garner, said demand for the New Generation Mazda3 at Eurocars was already very strong with enquiry from new car buyers starting well before the new Mazda model arrived at their Artarmon Mazda showroom.
