Australia’s favourite “zoom-zoom” Mazda model has reached a milestone in its history.
Global production of the ever-popular Mazda 3 reached two million units in October 2008 after five years and four months on the market, according to Mazda global headquarters in Japan.
Mazda began production of the Mazda 3 in western Japan in June 2003. Since then, the popular compact vehicle has been sold in more than 100 countries, including Australia, and has won 94 global automotive awards.
Australian drivers have certainly fallen in love with Mazda’s high quality fleet of vehicles, ranging from the smallest and most affordable model, the Mazda 2, to the largest and most luxurious family vehicle, the Mazda CX9.
Figures just released by Mazda’s global headquarters in Japan show that 77,000 Mazdas were sold in Australia in 2007 – an all-time Australian record.
Mazda Eurocars Dealer Principal, Tim Garner, said sales records were constantly tumbling with 700 Mazdas recently sold in just one week across NSW – another first in Mazda’s Australian history.
“Australians are increasingly recognising the superior performance, style, comfort and value for money in all Mazda models,” Mr Garner said.
